PyTorch is a deep learning library for building efficient neural network models for different purposes. It has many utilities for computer vision (CV), natural language processing (NLP), and audio signal processing.
PyTorch is a python deep-learning library for computer programmers to build Neural Networks. The library came into existence in 2016 by AI researcher Soumith Chintala and a team at Meta, formerly Facebook. This library supports NumPy-like operations and has advanced neural network modules. The significant difference between NumPy and PyTorch arrays is how computation takes place. All NumPy arrays run on the CPU while PyTorch has support for both the CPU and GPU acceleration which speeds up computation. Tesla's advanced driving assistant system (ADAS) Tesla Autopilot and Uber's Probabilistic Programming Language (Pyro) are built with PyTorch. Community support for this library is growing exponentially due to python OOP (object-oriented programming) syntax, which is easy to debug.
PyTorch has launched "PyTorch Mobile" which helps developers to deploy their models in production for mobile devices. it is great to start the Deep Learning journey with this library it has a clean python like OOP structure for building models. PyTorch is preferred and its popularity is growing due to the performance gains, ease to debug, and models build in this library are easy to customize giving more controls to programmers.

CuPy is an important NumPy alternative that has GPU acceleration support. If your programs contain high-rank matrix operations and you wish to run those in parallel on a special device called GPU CuPy would be useful.
Tensorly is another computation library in python that supports GPU and backends of deep learning libraries such as PyTorch.

It seems that the PyTorch implementation was around 9 times faster than the NumPy implementation on CIFAR-10 (5 minutes vs 45 minutes). This is a significant speedup and demonstrates the benefits of using a library like PyTorch that is optimized for deep learning and GPU acceleration.
It's worth noting that the performance difference between NumPy and PyTorch can vary depending on the specific task and dataset. For example, the performance difference may be smaller for smaller datasets, or for tasks that are not as computationally intensive. In general, PyTorch is designed to be fast and efficient, and it can provide a significant speedup for deep learning tasks, especially when run on a GPU.
